Get to know me

I’m an audiovisual and editorial translator (English >< Brazilian Portuguese), and I’m an adopter of inclusive and gender-neutral language. I’m bi and cis (she/her/hers).

I've been a full-time translator for 6 years and was an English teacher for also 6 years. In my classes, whenever was allowed, I used a critical and contextual approach, discussing topics such as racism and LGBTQIA+phobia. This was only possible because at university I learned that language is an instrument of power.

In 2017 I had a major depressive episode. Today, I see it as impossible to be part of a minority group and not go through any sort of nervous breakdown. It was time to put health first.

I quit teaching, pursued translation studies, and became a freelancer. Along the way, I worked for 2 years as an in-house translator at an agency, specializing in marketing and UI translation for apps.

In 2020, I became a self-employed translator. I’ve specialized in audiovisual translation because I've always been a fan of shows and movies. Nowadays, I mostly translate for entertainment (subtitling and dubbing).

I take pride whenever I can use gender-neutral and inclusive language. I invest in continuous professional development, and now I am also an editorial translator, proofreader, and copy editor.
